What is Applied Kinesiology?

It is more commonly known as muscle testing. Basically it is the use of a patient’s muscle strength level to determine weaknesses in the body associate with disease, both physical and mental.

Applied kinesiology (AK) can determine health imbalances in the body’s organ and glands by identifying weaknesses in specific muscles. By stimulating and relaxing the key muscles, an applied kinesiologist can diagnose and resolve a variety of health problems.

Founded in 1964 by Dr. George Gearheart, a Chiropractor in Detroit, Michigan, today it is a widely practiced method of diagnoses and treatment used in many areas of health care for man and beast.

In humans, the patient, him or herself, is used directly except in cases of infants, small children and some geriatric or mental or seriously ill patients. In these cases a surrogate (another) person must be used. Because we are all electrical in nature our energies are transferred to those we are in contact with, thus one can use someone else. The same applies to animals as they don’t normally cooperate to hold a strong muscle to test!

At Coleman Animal Healing Center, we use AK to diagnose chiropractic subluxations, joint and muscle abnormalities, allergies, intestinal imbalances, organ weaknesses, etc. If you are interested in the use of this modality for your animal friend feel free to ask us more about it. AK is just another way that we can help assure that “your pet’s best health is our concern”.
